We are learning to solve division equations using our knowledge of multiplication.

Multiplication practice:

56 ➗ 8 =   7          72 ➗ 9 =     8           44 ➗ 11 = 4

45 ➗ 9 =    5          64 ➗ 8 =      8          56 ➗ 7 = 8

35 ➗ 5 =    7         144 ➗ 12 =    12         27 ➗ 3 = 9

Justus has 75 chocolates. He would like to share them between 5 friends. How many chocolates will they get each? 75 ÷ 5=  75 - 60 = 15   5 x 15 = 75  15 x 5 = 75 Answer: 15

Tamati has 48 fidget spinners to share between 12 friends. How many will they receive each?

 48 ÷ 12 = 4   48 - 44 = 4   12 x 4 = 48    4 x 12 = 48  Answer: 4

Cooking club have made 140 cookies that will be shared between 7 students. How many cookies will each student receive? 140 ÷ 7 = ?  140 - 120 = 20   7 x 20 = 140   20 x 7 = 140  Answer: 20

Amelia has made 144 mini pineapple pies. She is sharing them between 12 friends. How many pies will each friend receive? 144 ÷ 12 = ?  144 - 132 = 12   12 x 12 = 144  Answer: 12

Mrs Vaafusuaga has ordered 45 tennis balls. They are in cans of 3 balls. How many cans should there be?  45 ÷ 3 = ?    45 - 33 = 15   3 x 15 = 45   15 x 3 = 45   Answer: 15

Atareita has 117 lollies. She would like to make 9 lolly leis. How many lollies can you use to make each lei?  117 ÷ 9 = ?  117 - 104 = 13   9 x 13 = 117    13 x  9 = 117   Answer: 13
