Delicious Division 3! - Week 8 - Term 1 - 2021

We are learning to solve division equations using our knowledge of multiplication.


Multiplication practice:


56 ➗ 8 =  7           72 ➗ 9 =  8              44 ➗ 11 = 4

45 ➗ 9 =    5          64 ➗ 8 =  8              56 ➗ 7 = 8

35 ➗ 5 =     7        144 ➗ 12 =  12           27 ➗ 3 = 9

Justus has 175 chocolates. He would like to share them between 5 friends. How many chocolates will they get each? 175 ÷ 5 = 35    5 x 10 = 50   5 x 11 = 55   5 x 10 = 50  5 x 4 = 20 = 5 x 35 = 175  Answer: 35

Cooking club have made 231 cookies that will be shared between 7 students. How many cookies will each student receive? 231 ÷ 7 = ?   231 -263 = 33  7 x 33 = 231   33 x 7 = 231  Answer:33

Amelia has made 240 mini pineapple pies. She is sharing them between 12 friends. How many pies will each friend receive?  240 ÷ 12 = ?  240 - 220 = 20    12 x 20 = 240   20 x 12 = 240 Answer: 20

Tamati has 144  fidget spinners to share between 12 friends. How many will they receive each?

144 ÷ 12 = ?   144  - 132 = 12   12 x 12 = 144  Answer: 144

Mrs Vaafusuaga has ordered 81 tennis balls. They are in cans of 3 balls. How many cans should there be? 81 ÷ 3 = ?  81 - 54 = 27   3 x 27 = 81   27 x 3 = 81 Answer: 27

Atareita has 891 lollies. She would like to make 9 lolly leis. How many lollies can you use to make each lei?  891 ÷ 9 = ? 891 - 792 = 99   9 x 99 = 891   99 x 9 = 891  Answer: 99

36 cookies are shared between 6 friends. How many cookies do they get each?

36 ÷ 6 =?  6 x ? = 36   6 x 6 = 36  Answer: 6

Justus has 70 chocolates. He would like to share them between 5 friends. How many chocolates will they get each?    70 ÷ 5 = 14    5 x 10 =50    2 x 10 = 20   50 + 20 = 70   70 - 56 = 14 5 x 14 = 70   Answer: 14

Cooking club have made 48 cookies that will be shared between 6 students. How many cookies will each student receive?  48 ÷ 6 = 8  40 - 32 = 8 6 x 8= 48  8 x 6 = 48 Answer: 8

Naomi has 80 lollies. She would like to make 20 lolly leis. How many lollies can you use to make each lei? 80 ÷ 20 = ? 80 - 76 = 4 4 x 20 = 80    20 x 4 = 80 Answer: 4
